The band Ghost has announced that they are working on a comic book series based on revealing the origin of the character Sister Imperator. However, the first issue is scheduled for release on March 5, 2025, with cover art by artist Mikael Eriksson .
The work will be published by Dark Horse Comics and is being written by frontman and vocalist Tobias Forge in collaboration with writer Corinna Bechko. Artists Puste, Thiago Rocha , and Jimmy Betancourt from Comicraf are also contributing to the storyline.
Above all, the work will be divided into four parts and will be set in a small town in New England, exploring the paths that led the character to become a member of the Clergy, as well as to oversee the Ghost's machinations.
Expectations and statements
The writer Corinna expressed her excitement at being able to work on the project ( via Revolver ):
“As a Ghost fan, working with Tobias to bring his vision of Sister Imperator’s story to life was a dream come true. Her story is rich, tragic, and brutal in ways that transcend what people might think they know about her character… I’ve had the honor of writing about many incredible women, from Vampirella to Wonder Woman, but I’ve never written a more badass character than Sister Imperator.”
Puste expressed his enthusiasm: “Sister Imperator herself is a fascinating and terrifying character, and I know fans will love her. With the support of an incredible team, a killer script, and the backing of Dark Horse and Ghost, this was truly a dream project. I can’t wait for fans of the band and comics to dive into this dark, atmospheric, and thrilling story!”.
