System of a Down , Marilyn Manson , and… Eminem ? Yes, these are some of the biggest inspirations for the Australian band DREGG , which mixes metal, hardcore , and rap into an electrifying and imposing sound and performances.
The Australian group, whose members are Christopher Mackertich (vocals), Jordan McQuitty (guitar), Sam Yates (guitar), Aiden Zovic (bass) and Horhay Delalopez (drums), has so far released two EPs, No Comment (2016) and The Dregg EP (2017), which introduced to the world why they are such a different band from others, attracting the attention of executives from the other side of the planet.
With this, the American record label Epitaph Records signed the Melbourne artists, now ready to conquer the rest of the world. For DREGG, it's an honor for the band to be alongside a roster of big names they grew up listening to, as Epitaph is home to big names like The Offspring and A Day to Remember .
The band may be at the beginning of its world domination, but it has already racked up performances at the Sonic Temple festival in the United States, playing on the same stage as Slipknot and Tool , and at the Australian edition of the Download Festival.
Continuing in the imposing, energetic spirit that seeks to evoke the maximum strangeness within each fan—characteristics already present in their previous EPs—DREGG begins this new phase with the single "Hectic," featuring a colorful and shocking music video, and addressing criticism suffered by the band, but which did not stop them.
