Cannibal Corpse and Cher couldn't be more opposite in the world of music. While the death metal band is known for its brutal sound and lyrics, Cher conquered the charts with dance-pop. Even so, George Fisher crossed with the diva's – and made for a good story.

In an interview with Metal Hammer about Cannibal Corpse's upcoming album, Violence Unimagined , Corpsegrinder their meeting, which occurred "15 or 20 years ago" through Elijah Blue Allman , Cher's son.

Elijah invited Cannibal Corpse to perform at his birthday party. Since Fisher's birthday was just two days earlier, he decided to arrive in Los Angeles a few days before to enjoy it with his wife. During that time, he was invited to visit Elijah at Cher's mansion, but the artist was out shopping that day. "I thought, 'Of course she's out shopping, '" joked the vocalist.

When the singer arrived, she was friendly and prepared food for the guests. “I was like, ‘Okay, cool, but it’s not like meeting King Diamond or Chuck Billy , because I’m fascinated by those guys,’” Corpsegrinder continued.

When the singer decided to go to the show, he apologized for her having to listen to Cannibal Corpse, but the diva said she liked it. “I said, ‘Come on, Cher, do the metal sign!’, and she replied, ‘Honey, I was metal before you were even born,’” Fisher recounted. “I thought, ‘Wow, I just got blown away by Cher!’”

The album Violence Unimagined will be released on April 16th, see the tracklist and cover art here.
