The former Queensrÿche vocalist declared himself a "libertarian" who believes in Socialism

Geoff Tate , former lead singer of Queensrÿche , has stated that he believes in Socialism.

The Seattle vocalist discussed his political views in a new interview for Greek TV. He said: “Some people ask me about my political opinions. And after I say them, many of them will put themselves in complete opposition to me because they are ultra-conservative. And I don't know how they thought I was ultra-conservative [laughs]. Because I absolutely am not.”

“I’m a libertarian,” he continued. “A leftist. I believe in socialism and social welfare. I’m for the people – not the rich. I don’t know how people thought otherwise. Maybe it’s the name Queensrÿche – I don’t know. Maybe they thought it was something kind of fascist. But it’s totally the opposite.”

In 2017, Tate said that Donald Trump would likely be seen as "the worst president" in US history.
