Former Queensrÿche frontman Geoff Tate is working on the final chapter of the Operation: Mindcrime .
The vocalist spoke about the project on a recent podcast , comparing it to the beginning of Queensrÿche. Having parted ways with the band in 2012, the album would be released under his own name.
As reported by Blabbermouth , the new songs are "super heavy and some of them are incredibly technical."
“They’re like algebra,” he adds; and, in a joking tone, Geoff says that “you need a calculator while listening to the music” and that some of it “is quite emotional.”
The artist confirms that it will be the "final chapter of the Mindcrime ," and also demonstrates his great desire for fans to listen to and enjoy the album, giving a brief description: "It continues with the explorations of Dr. X and Nikki and Sister Mary, and picks up on a particular point in the story and kind of microscopically examines what's happening at that particular time with them."
The Operation: Mindcrime was released in 1988 and acclaimed for its dark political facets, an element that will also be present in the lyrics of the new album.
When asked if the album will have “political undertones,” Geoff comments: “Yeah, I think people will be able to pick up a little bit on what’s going on around them,” highlighting the United States presidential elections as a point of interest.
Geoff Tate will be touring the United States, performing the Operation: Mindcrime album in its entirety for the last time.
