The legendary band Genesis has confirmed that they will reunite for a tour in 2020, their first in 13 years. Phil Collins , Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford announced the news during Zoe Ball 's show on BBC Radio 2 on Wednesday morning, the 4th.
Speaking about the reunion, they said they will be performing a series of shows in the UK later this year. Subsequently, the dates for the tour, titled The Last Domino?, were revealed on social media, citing dates between November and December.
The trio, considered the group's classic lineup, will be joined by Collins' 18-year-old son, Nicholas , on drums, due to his father's health problems, which prevent the musician from playing the instrument with the mastery he once did. Longtime colleague Daryl Stuermer will be on guitar and bass, while group founder Peter Gabriel , who left in 1975, will not be part of the reunion.
Formed in Surrey, England, in 1967, Genesis boasts a repertoire of great hits such as "Invisible Touch" and "I Can't Dance," among many others – listen below. Collins joined the band in 1970 as the group's drummer before becoming the vocalist after Gabriel's departure. Genesis disbanded in 1996 when Collins chose to focus on his solo career.
In 2007, the group embarked on the Turn It On Again to celebrate their 40-year career. At the time, Collins said this would be their farewell tour. Three years later, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
