In an interview with No Spin News ( via 89 FM ), Gene Simmons of Kiss spoke about the future of the music industry and rock. Simmons reiterated that "rock is dead" and that new bands will have no place in the music scene.

This is not the first criticism he has made; he recently spoke about people, mainly young people, who wear band t-shirts purely for aesthetic reasons , without really knowing the bands.

"Unfortunately, the music business model is dead. New bands, especially rock bands, don't stand a chance. In a way, rock is finally dead," he said.

According to the bassist, the main reason is the free sharing of music, thus harming up-and-coming bands and artists.

“People feel entitled to download music for free, without understanding that this directly affects those who produce it. It’s like working on something and not getting paid. This is devastating for new artists, and it breaks my heart.”

Simmons also spoke about the emotional impact of being on stage

According to him, the exchange of emotions with the crazed fans is "simply indescribable," since we are social animals and something happens when he is on stage.
