Gene Simmons talks about the hate KISS received for their disco music

The album was such a hit that it went platinum multiple times, but Gene Simmons was questioned about its success

During an appearance on Good Day Sacramento , KISS bassist Gene Simmons was asked about the hate the band received for having a disco song, the 1979 hit "I Was Made for Lovin' You" from the album Dynasty .

Asked whether the album would be described as "a success or a failure," Gene replied, "Well, when people talk about that album as a success or a failure – it's a multi-platinum album, so that's called a success.".

“There are some songs that are pop. Yes, by definition, that’s called a hit,” he said. He compares it to a home run in a baseball game. Just because someone didn’t like the way the home run was hit doesn’t mean it stops being a home run.

In other words, for Gene Simmons, it doesn't matter how others feel about the album that was made. Its success is undeniable.
