During an interview on The SDR Show podcast, Gene Simmons said he wasn't interested in making a new Kiss album. The musician justified this by saying there isn't a commercial model that's attractive:
“There's less incentive because of downloads… People have convinced themselves that they don't want to pay for things. And as far as I know, Kiss isn't charity. We're philanthropic, but I decide how much I'm going to donate and to whom. I don't want some kid in high school deciding, 'You have enough money, I'm not going to pay for your album.' Okay, then go download a Radiohead album and see what it's like… No, I'm not like that.”
There's a difference between commerce and philanthropy. So the idea of making a new album, unless there's a financial model that works, personally doesn't interest me
