The book written by Gene Simmons will be released on August 14th

Kiss bassist and vocalist Gene Simmons is about to release his new book called 27: The Legend and Mythology of the 27 Club.

The book promises to deconstruct and question what causes rich and famous musicians to self-destruct at such a young age.

The 27 Club has been acquiring new members for decades. From Jimi Hendrix to Janis Joplin, from Kurt Cobain to Amy Winehouse. “Frances Beans, Kurt Cobain’s daughter, is friends with my son. ‘Hey, it’s really cool that your dad died from drugs while you’re still a baby.’ No, it’s not. It sucks,” Simmons said in an interview with Wrif 101.1 FM.

He continues, “You’d be shocked at how profound and mysterious this is. But again, it’s not about the idea that it’s 27, although we ask the question: ‘Why then? Why not 28? Why not 30?’ Is it really when you become rich and famous and when everyone admires you that makes people destroy themselves to death? What is that? The rest of the world adores you, your fans love you and give you money, fame, all that, and then you kill yourself. I don’t understand.”

The book 27: The Legend And Mythology Of The 27 Club will be released on August 14th by PowerHouse Books, and you can pre-order it by clicking here .
