KISS is officially saying goodbye to the stage with the End of The Road Tour , and their last visit to Brazil was quite emotional.
In a Full Metal Jackie radio show Whiplash , bassist Gene Simmons spoke about his retirement plans and why he believes the band is doing the right thing.
Simmons commented that KISS is ending their tours out of "pride, self-respect, and love and admiration for their fans," and compared the trajectory of a rock band to that of a boxer who stays in the ring too long and can no longer fight as before.
“We’ve seen boxers who stay in the ring too long and bands that keep touring too long. And they forget lyrics and you can see deep wrinkles on their faces. It’s the nature of earthly life. So we’re doing the right thing. Let’s stop while we’re at the top, do the best we can, and it will be sad, but it will also be happy,” he reflects.
Gene Simmons said he will "cry like a 12-year-old when someone steps on their foot" when the date of the final show arrives, but also said he will rejoice in the "next chapter," about which he did not give many details.
“It’s going to be something different. It won’t be as fun as going on tour and wearing more makeup and higher heels than you normally do, but life goes on,” she concluded.
We at Wikimetal attended the KISS shows in Porto Alegre and São Paulo , and you can check out both full reviews on our website.
