Gene Simmons , iconic bassist and founder of Kiss , advised the Brazilian public to get vaccinated against COVID-19 – even if the political class says otherwise.

In a press conference for the Latin American media about the A&E documentary KISStory , the musician reinforced the band's commitment to only performing shows safely. "We were very smart, we maintained social distancing because we didn't want anyone to get sick," he said. "The world is still not safe, but it's better than before and we're going to be very careful, everyone on the tour crew will wear masks and wash their hands. We urge everyone who comes to our show: please get vaccinated."

After being surprised by the surge in cases during the first wave in Brazil, Simmons expressed concern about the country's situation once again. “I know that in Brazil, especially, it’s a big problem. Politics is getting in the way of science, many people are dying, and this is very serious. Please get vaccinated, please get both doses,” he advised. “You should do this not only for yourselves, but because there are other people who could die because some politician said [the vaccine] is fake. Politicians are idiots, listen to the scientists and doctors.”

With shows in Brazil awaiting rescheduling, originally planned for May 2020 and postponed to November of this year, the band returns to the stage in North America and Europe between August and July 2022.
