Recording sessions by the artists are documented in The Vault Experience , a box set recently released by Simmons.

In a surprising interview with The Pulse Of Radio, Gene Simmons stated that writing songs with the legendary Bob Dylan was a relatively normal experience. "I called his agent and simply asked, 'Can I speak to Bob?'"

“He asked me what I wanted to talk to him about. And I said I wanted to write a song ,” he explained. “And that’s how I got a van at my door two days later, from which Bob got out with a guitar and said goodbye to his driver, saying he’d see him at the end of the day. Just like that.”

In 2004, during a show promoting his solo album Asshole (2004), Simmons included "Waiting For The Morning Light," a song he co-wrote with Dylan in 1991, in the setlist. Recently, the controversial Kiss vocalist released a massive collection of songs to celebrate his 50-year career anniversary, Gene Simmons – The Vault Experience: 1966-2016 , which ends with a 15-minute recording of a songwriting session with Dylan.

In a 2017 interview with Wikimetal , Simmons spoke about the box set, which features 150 previously unreleased items, including unreleased songs and collectibles. “I decided to seek out 150 tracks that I wrote or played over the last 50 years, from 1966 to 2016. None of these 150 songs have been released. This is the biggest box set of all time.”

“It includes three tracks I collaborated on with Bob Dylan, three with the Van Halen brothers, two tracks with Ace [Frehley] singing that were never released, and old Kiss tracks with Ace playing. There are literally ten CDs, 150 tracks (…) The box set also includes a 50,000-word book explaining the story behind each song and photos from my personal collection ,” he explained.
