Gene Simmons announces book series about musicians who died at age 27.

The book will be released in October of this year.

Gene Simmons has announced another controversial piece of news: he will be releasing a book about the 27 Club. The Kiss has written a work about the legend surrounding artists such as Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin , and Jimi Hendrix , who died at the age of 27.

According to a press release, the book, titled 27: The Legend & Mythology of the 27 Club , will be the first in a series written by the musician. Scheduled for release on October 2nd by powerHouse Books, the work will explore the life and death of these musicians.

“Simmons takes a deep dive into the life stories of these legendary figures, without giving credence to the romanticized idea that being in the club is somehow a perverse privilege. Simmons wants us to know the extraordinary lives, not the sensational deaths, of the musicians and artists who left an indelible mark on the world.”

The legend of the 27 Club began with the death of Brian Jones , guitarist and co-founder of the Rolling Stones , who died in 1969 after drowning in a swimming pool. Since then, the term has referred to a belief linking the deaths of great musicians, which almost always occur due to overdoses, murders, or suicides.
