Black Sabbath 's Geezer Butler announced last Wednesday, the 17th, that he is working on his autobiography. In an interview with the website Cleveland.com , he stated that he began writing it because of the death of his parents.

The bassist, one of the icons of heavy metal, said he is halfway through writing the book. One of his goals is that his grandchildren can look back on his career.

“I started because, when my parents died, I always wished I had asked them a lot more things,” Butler told Cleveland.com. “I really don’t know much about my mom and dad because they’ve always been there. So, I started writing a memoir for my grandkids to read, and it’s been fun to go over things – the old days, growing up in Birmingham and all that. I’m right in the middle of all that at the moment.”.

In the same interview, he reminisced about Black Sabbath's wild years while they lived together in 1970s Los Angeles.

"We used to have buckets full of cocaine there and a big bowl in the middle of the table, full of cocaine," the star said.

“One day Ozzy noticed a button under one of the windows; he kept pressing it, 'I wonder what this does?' Then the police showed up: it was a panic button. And there we were with a big bowl of cocaine in the middle of the table.”.

Geezer Butler says the band flushed all the drugs they had down the toilet. After the police arrived and the band claimed there was nothing wrong, they left within five minutes. "And we flushed about five grams of cocaine down the drain!"

More stories for the book may still emerge if the original drummer, Bill Wards, fulfills his recent wish for the band to reunite and record a final album.

Ward, who left the band in 2012, said: "I'm not finished with the Black Sabbath legacy.".

“But to be realistic about it, as far as touring with Black Sabbath is concerned, I don’t have the talent and I don’t have the ability to lead a band like that on stage. I’d have to be 60 years old again to be able to do that,” he concluded.

Earlier this month, legendary Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi also admitted that the band had discussed the possibility of a biopic .
