Gaucho musician Júpiter Maçã dies at age 47.

Musician suffered multiple organ failure.

Brazilian musician Júpiter Maçã, from Rio Grande do Sul, passed away yesterday in Porto Alegre at the age of 47, due to multiple organ failure. Júpiter was receiving treatment for cirrhosis and complications from drug use.

The singer, songwriter, and filmmaker is considered one of the most important names in Rio Grande do Sul rock, having participated in bands such as TNT and Os Cascavelletes. In 1996, the singer began his solo career and released the album "A Sétima Efervescência," chosen by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 100 most important Brazilian albums in history.

In 2008 he released “Uma Tarde na Fruteira” and more recently he was working on songs in English, under the name Jupiter Apple.
