Gary Holt: "I'm ready to write songs for Slayer"

Read the statement.

In an interview with Ultima Guitar, Exodus and Slayer guitarist Gary Holt said he's prepared to write songs for Slayer, a task that, according to Kerry King, could happen on the band's next album. Holt said:

“I'm certainly ready. There are a lot of people who say, 'Okay, he plays in Exodus, but does he know how to write a song for Slayer?' You know, usually the difference between a Slayer song and an Exodus song is the note selection. But it's all Thrash Metal.”

It's possible to distinguish some subtle differences, such as Kreator being more melodic than Exodus, and Slayer being more chromatic.

I've been in the band long enough to think I have the knowledge to write a Slayer song or an Exodus song. So I'll be ready if and when the time comes.”

At the end of last year, Slayer frontman Kerry King said he was open to Holt's compositions for the band's next album, despite having rejected them on the last album, Repentless .
