In the month that celebrates International Women's Day, two major all-female rock bands from around the world are coming to Brazil: Garbage and L7 . This time, the tour will visit three cities: Rio de Janeiro (March 21st, at Scadura 154), São Paulo (March 22nd, at Terra SP ), and Curitiba (March 23rd, at Live Curitiba ).

Finally, to complete the celebration of female rock, The Mönic will open the shows in Curitiba and São Paulo . Currently, the band consists of Ale Labelle (guitar and vocals), Dani Buarque (guitar and vocals), Joan Bedin (bass and vocals), and recently announced the departure of drummer Thiago Coiote . Therefore, their powerful vocals and 90s inspiration were a fitting choice to start the night.

Both Garbage and L7 have been to Brazil recently. The first edition of The Town in 2023 featured Garbage. Meanwhile, L7 toured several cities in October of the same year.

Garbage: alternative rock that breaks paradigms

The band Garbage emerged in 1994, currently consisting of Butch Vig on drums, Steve Marker on guitar and bass, Duke Erikson on guitar and keyboards, and the iconic Shirley Manson on vocals. The group has released six studio albums and sold over 25 million copies. Regarding their name, Garbage, it originated from a friend's comment that their music sounded "like garbage."

With a sound shaped during the heyday of MTV , the band blends alternative rock with electronic beats. Currently, their lyrics explore themes related to politics, gender issues, climate change, and racism. See below a playlist based on the setlist from their latest shows:

In 1985, friends Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner joined Jennifer Finch and Demetra Plakas to form the punk-influenced band L7. The name originates from a US slang term for "square," as it is formed by placing an "L" formed with one hand along with a seven formed with the other.

In the early 90s, alongside the grunge scene that emerged where they lived, the band stood out as a female representation. Always with lyrics emphasizing female empowerment, they found in the movement a progressive environment that fostered the attitude they already possessed in abundance.
