Five years after the release of Strange Little Birds (2016), Garbage returns with their new album No Gods No Masters .

The title references an anarchist expression linked to the personal liberation of living "without gods or masters," as illustrated in the title track . With 19 songs and over 1 hour and 23 minutes of duration, the project is divided into Disc 1 and Disc 2 and includes critiques of materialism, individualism, racism, and sexism, being politicized and incisive, as is the hallmark of Garbage.

In a statement, vocalist Shirley Manson reflected: “This is our seventh album, and this number and its multiple meanings affected the DNA of the work's content. The seven virtues, the seven pains of religion, the seven deadly sins. It was our way of trying to find some meaning in this madness that is the world and this boundless chaos we've gotten ourselves into.” Available on all digital platforms.
