Gadelha Superdrive , a band from Rio de Janeiro, released the music video for their single "Evil Witch" on Friday, August 2nd, 2024. Inspired by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), the song revisits horror themes present in iconic bands such as Mercyful Fate , Black Sabbath , and Iron Maiden . The single was released by the label Na Beira do Palco.

“Evil Witch” is the band's first track in English and also the first joint recording of all four members in the studio. The current lineup includes Cris Gadelha (vocals and bass), Fernanda Schenker (guitar), Alê Velloso (guitar), and PH Marques (drums).

Cris Gadelha revealed some details about "Evil Witch," check it out:

“The guitar riffs are reminiscent of 1980s English metal, and the lyrics are about an encounter with an evil witch. We are very proud of this release because, for the first time, we recorded together in the studio. This track is a re-recording of a song from my former band, Black Viper , which had been out of print since 2011. We revamped the song and hope our fans enjoy the result.”

The single also features Ana Marques , vocalist of the pop-punk band Radioativa , who played the witch, delivering a performance aligned with the story's vision. Check out the band's Instagram post;

The music video was directed by Igor Leite and Alexandre Kubrusly , inspired by 80s horror films. The plot involves a witch who curses the band Gadelha Superdrive through a VHS tape, trapping them in another world. Ana Marques delivered a performance aligned with the story's vision.

About the Gadelha Superdrive

Gadelha Superdrive began as a studio project in June 2022. After 18 years in the rock and metal scene, Cris Gadelha recorded the EP Escarlate in 2023, after recovering from a serious health problem. With the support of Rafael Lima , who produced and played guitars, Cris recorded vocals, bass, and programmed drums.

In order to bring the music to the stage, Cris formed a band with some friends. What started as a studio project quickly evolved into a four-member band, thanks to the strong chemistry established in the first rehearsal.
