Gabriel Boric: The President of Chile once had a rock band and was mentioned by Tom Morello.

The new Chilean president, Gabriel Boric, had a band influenced by Metallica and Nirvana in his youth.

On the evening of Sunday the 19th, Chile elected Gabriel Boric Font , 35, as its new president. A candidate for the progressive and left-wing party, Convergencia Social , which he founded in 2018, Boric is now the youngest president in Chilean history.

Despite his successful political career, Gabriel Boric had other dreams when he was younger. The now-president was part of a rock band that drew inspiration from names like Metallica and Nirvana , but his dream of becoming the next rockstar didn't last long. According to him, he ended up giving up because he heard numerous criticisms for not singing well.

Even though he didn't pursue a career in music, Boric was congratulated by one of the biggest names in rock, guitarist Tom Morello , who, as always, demonstrated his activism on social media by posting a photo of the new president with the caption "CHILE: anti-fascists 1, fascists 0". Other names who showed support for the president were actors Pedro Pascal and Danny Glover .
