Melbourne-based metal quintet Future Static has released their new single “The Hourglass” . The track is part of their debut album, Liminality , which will be released on November 24, 2023.

In a broader view, "The Hourglass" is a great showcase of the layers of progressive influence that are ingrained in the core of Future Static's DNA. The song came with a music video, which you can check out at the end of this article.

Speaking about the song, the band commented in a press statement: “Thematically, this song describes what it feels like when you say something that is irritating or hurtful and, instead of letting it go, you try to fix it with more unnecessary and misinterpreted words, causing deep reflection on one's own intentions and, in some cases, negative life changes.”

Liminality will be a fusion of metalcore, progressive metal, alternative rock, and pop. Speaking about the album, Amariah comments: “Everything on this album came from the heart and soul of the band. The best way to describe it? It’s the physical representation of friendship, teamwork, and our unconditional love for music.”

The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Christopher Vernon ( Windwaker , The Beautiful Monument) . The artwork was designed by guitarist Jack Smith. Listen here to the single “Roach Queen” which will be on the album along with “The Hourglass”.
