Guitarist Ace Frehley spoke about a possible return to Kiss.
Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley confirmed to Goldmine that he would be willing to be part of the End of the Road .
Frehley left Kiss in 1982. He rejoined the band in 1996 and left for good in 2002, after the conclusion of the first "farewell tour". Since then, guitarist Tommy Thayer has taken on the role of Spaceman.
Frehley was asked how he would like Kiss's final tour to go. “When I read fan comments online, 80 or 90% of Kiss fans want a full reunion. I don't know if it's possible, but it could be a variation of that. There's no way they can break through with this lineup. It's half a cover band. I love Eric [ Singer , drummer] and I love Tommy, but it's half a Kiss cover band. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons are the two originals. And they have two guys playing my role and Peter [ Criss ]'s role.”
“Since 2014, when we were nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, practically everyone realized I wasn’t in the band anymore. They weren’t sure yet. When they replaced me with Tommy, they didn’t publicize it much. They didn’t want it to happen. I remember getting calls in 2008, 2009 from people saying, ‘Hey, you’re playing in my city. Can you get me tickets?’, and I’d say, ‘No. I’m not in the band anymore.’”
Even so, Frehley doesn't rule out playing with Kiss again if invited. "I'd do it if the numbers were right and if they presented me the right way, of course," he said. "It's not something I'm crazy about doing, but I want to do it for the fans. They're the ones who made us famous and rich and superstars. I want to do what the fans want. It seems like that's the direction they're heading. I'd do anything to make the fans happy."
