Dave Clark stripped down the original music, leaving only Freddie Mercury's piano and vocals.

Dave Clark , the mastermind behind the musical Time , has released a new version of "Time Waits For No One," sung by Freddie Mercury .

“It gave me chills,” he told Rolling Stone, recalling the first time he heard Mercury perform the track. At the time of the musical, it had heavy drums and thick layers of backing vocals. Now, Clark has stripped the song down to the way he had originally heard Freddie perform it.

“Freddie asked me, ‘How do you want me to sing this?’ Clark recalls. ‘I said, “Like a cross between Edith Piaf, Jennifer Holliday, and Shirley Bassey .” He said, ‘Good, darling. I have all the dresses. I can do it perfectly.’”
