The Freddie Mercury Club posted a picture of Freddie Mercury . The image dates from 1969, and appears to have been his stage debut.

The publication states the following:

“Freddie was shy offstage, but he knew how to command a show,” says the post accompanying the photo. “It was his way of expressing that side of his personality. Everything he would later do on stage with Queen he was already doing with Ibex (the band he was singing with at the time) in his first show, marching from one end of the stage to the other, from left to right and vice versa. He brought dynamism, freshness and presence to the band, something they hadn’t had until then” (…) “Freddie’s first appearance on stage, with Ibex / Wreckage at the Octagon Theatre on August 23, 1969. The 'Bluesology pop-in' was an outdoor event in Bolton’s Queen Park, and the events were covered in Bolton’s 'Evening News', which showed an uncredited image of Freddie (which is what I’m presenting here to you).”.
