Frankie Banali, drummer for Quiet Riot, dies at age 68.

The family confirmed the sad news this Friday, the 21st

Frankie Banali , drummer for Quiet Riot , has died at the age of 68. According to an official statement from his family, he spent 16 months battling pancreatic cancer and, unfortunately, the chemotherapy stopped working. Banali also suffered a series of strokes that made it impossible to continue treatment.

The drummer's diagnosis was made in April 2019, but he shared the news with fans months later. Banali missed several shows due to treatment, but always kept his followers updated on his health on social media. Earlier this week he had said he was recovering:

"Update: I spent the last three weeks in the hospital. Home now. I had two blood transfusions. I also had a stroke while I was there. I'm recovering at home. Thank you for your concerns and well wishes," he wrote.

With the ongoing treatment, a GoFundMe was created to help Banali pay his medical bills. He managed to raise $47,000.

Banali passed away last Thursday, the 20th, at 11:18 PM (Brasilia time), and the news has just been released by his family. "He lost the fight in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter by his side.".

Rest in peace, Frankie Banali.
