Corey Taylor filmed Iowa naked while cutting himself with glass.
That's right. The frontman recorded all the vocals for the Iowa naked in the studio while cutting himself. "I was bleeding all over the studio. I just wanted something, I didn't care what ," he said.
They recorded their debut album in the most disturbing way.
Producer Ross Robinson, famous for his extreme methods like throwing candles at The Cure, caused quite a stir with the members of Slipknot. He made Corey vomit numerous times in the studio booth, threw marijuana plants at Joey Jordison, and kicked Paul Gray's bass out of his hand.

The day before they recorded the track “515” from the album Iowa , DJ Sid Wilson’s grandfather passed away. When they went to the studio, the band gave him a microphone while they recorded. His cries of anguish and grief can be heard on the album.

Before bassist Paul Gray's death, Craig Jones had never appeared in public without his mask. After Gray's tragic death, all the band members attended a press conference without their masks. This was the first time fans were able to see Craig Jones's face.
