Former Mr. Bungle , Theobald “Theo” Brooks Lengyel , was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend last Friday, the 11th, in Santa Cruz, California, United States.
A judge in Santa Cruz County deliberated for a day before delivering a guilty verdict to Lengyel. During the six-week trial, the prosecution played audio recorded on the cell phone , Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann , in which she pleaded for her life while being strangled to death, according to CBS San Francisco.
The musician was already under suspicion for the murder due to his lack of cooperation with the police and, consequently, was arrested in January.
Kamakaokalani was last seen alive on December 3, 2023, and reported missing by her family on December 12, after they were unable to contact her.
They were already married, however, Herrmann filed a restraining order against Lengyel in 2017 and, ultimately, they filed for divorce at the end of that year.
Lengyel founded Mr. Bungle in 1985 along with Mike Patton , Trey Spruance , Trevor Dunn , and Jed Watts, playing keyboards and saxophone on their first self-titled album (1991) and Disco Volante (1995). The artist left the band in 1996.
