"Master Of Puppets is the best Heavy Metal album"
Former Megadeth members Marty Friedman, Chris Broderick, and Shawn Drover spoke with Billboard about Metallica's 1986 classic.
Friedman said: “ I’ve been a Metallica fan since the first time I heard their demo, but when Master Of Puppets was released, I realized how big Metal could be. And how it can sound underground even while being popular. It’s admirable how they did it back then, and I continue to admire their ability to do the coolest things that can be done in Metal .
Chris Broderick commented:
“Master Of Puppets has always been my favorite Thrash Metal album!”
From its amazing riffs like 'Master Of Puppets' to the classic guitar work of 'Battery', this album shows just how great Metallica is.”
Another Megadeth member, Shawn Drover, reveals: "After the release of Ride The Lightning in 1984, I quickly became a fan .
Back then, 'Fight Fire With Fire' was probably the heaviest song ever written, so in early 1986 I bought Master Of Puppets.”.
I was really excited to listen to that album loudly at home. Of course, being a Metal fan, I bought the CD the day it was released. And I remember thinking, 'Is this album better than Ride The Lightning?' And of course it was! Every song on that album stands out for a different reason.”.
"It's the best heavy metal album."
