Today, Lô Borges passed away. He was one of Brazil's most influential and iconic composers. The song in this video is 'Trem Azul' (by Ronaldo Bastos and Lô Borges), from one of the most influential albums of all time: Clube da Esquina. When I was in Brazil, performing in Lô Borges' hometown, Belo Horizonte, I showed this song to @martyfriedman and we decided to play it. Here's the moment we were rehearsing the song at the hotel, the day before the show.
I highly recommend listening to this 1972 album (the best year!) and discovering Borges' music. #rip Be inspired! Reverencing one of our greatest composers. Love and strength to the Borges family. When I was with "Martinho" in Brazil, I explained the beauty and strength of Minas Gerais music. I showed him 'Trem Azul' and we decided to play it at the BH show. May Lô Borges' music continue to inspire us forever.”
According to the newspaper Estado de Minas , Lô Borges died last Sunday, the 2nd, at the Unimed Hospital in Belo Horizonte, at the age of 73. According to his nephew, Rodrigo Borges , the cause was multiple organ failure.
