Judas Priest: Rob Halford says former members “have every right” to attend the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony

Former guitarist KK Downing, on the other hand, seemed to be expecting the worst and didn't want to make any plans

This Wednesday, the 4th, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announced that it will officially award Judas Priest in the Musical Excellence category.

The event's ceremony will take place on November 5th at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Former band members have also been inducted into the institution and will be honored – something Rob Halford does not object to.

“They have every right to participate in the event,” the vocalist said in an interview with Billboard . “I’m happy for everyone. There’s no bitterness or anguish. Those aren’t the feelings that remain. If they do, you have to push them away. You have to set them aside and understand, accept, and respect this wonderful opportunity and what it represents in terms of recognition and celebration.”

Former Judas Priest guitarist KK Downing wasn't too thrilled about the band's induction into the Hall of Fame, comparing the feeling to losing a Grammy many times and then winning. "It takes some of the excitement off," he commented.

Downing also seemed cautious when asked if there was any possibility of playing with former bandmates at the event. “I briefly thought about it when we were nominated,” he admitted. “But it’s only happening in November, and a lot can happen until then, especially with older men like us.”

“I think it’s a matter of seeing how things will align in relation to them because a lot can happen – a lot can improve, but it can also get worse or just stay the same. You never know,” he concluded.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be broadcast on HBO a few days after the event and will also be available for streaming on HBO Max.
