The brilliant mind behind Ghost , Tobias Forge, has been chosen as Metal Artist of the Decade by Loudwire .
In an interview with the publication, Forge talked about the beginning of his career and the plan for the band's success.
Ghost's first show took place at the Hammer of Doom Festival in Germany in 2010. Recalling the performance, Tobias describes it as "very, very turbulent." He adds, "We didn't know each other as a group. We rehearsed for three weeks or so… It was a very difficult audience. It's not like in Argentina, where everyone goes crazy and screams and jumps. When we arrived in London the next day, the audience was absolutely eager. It was explosive when we played."
According to him, with their first album, people started comparing the band to Mercyful Fate and Blue Oyster Cult . And the hype became gigantic. “I was very determined to prove that we weren’t just hype. We had hype, but we were more than that,” he said. “I knew that if I made an album as fun and playful as Opus , I could push the boundaries even further and move beyond one-album hits.”
Forge also spoke about the changes regarding Papa Emeritus and Cardinal Copia.
