Foo Fighters won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2022 for their album Medicine at Midnight . In addition, the band also won in the categories of Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song with "Waiting On A War."

The awards ceremony took place the week after the tragic and unexpected death of drummer Taylor Hawkins . The band was scheduled to play at today's ceremony, but canceled all commitments due to his sudden passing. None of the band members attended the event.

The 64th Grammy Awards considered releases made between September 2020 and October 2021, so the category had strong contenders. Besides the Foo Fighters, the nominees for best album included AC/DC with Power Up , Paul McCartney with McCartney III , Black Pumas with Capitol Cuts , and even Chris Cornell with a posthumous work, No One Sings Like You Anymore, Vol. 1 .
