Foo Fighters in Brazil

Foo Fighters invite fan to play “Under Pressure” in São Paulo

The band performed for the second time in the capital of São Paulo.

Last Wednesday, the 28th, Foo Fighters performed for the second consecutive night in São Paulo alongside their colleagues from Queens Of The Stone Age and the Brazilian band Ego Kill Talent. This was their last show in the city, but the tour will continue to Curitiba and Porto Alegre in the coming days.

At 6 PM, Ego Kill Talent took the stage and played to a nearly empty Allianz Arena. Despite the time not being ideal for the group, the Brazilians didn't let it get them down and delivered an incredible set that had the audience singing along. Those who didn't know the band immediately became fans.

With their debut album released in 2017, Ego Kill Talent showcased their enthusiasm and energy as newcomers, despite its members already being well-known in the music world. The group consists of Jonathan Corrêa (Reação em Cadeia), Jean Dolabella (ex-Sepultura), Niper Boaventura (Pulldown), Theo Van Der Loo and Raphael Miranda (both ex-Sayowa).

After a quick stage change, Queens Of The Stone Age took the stage, aiming to deliver a great night for their fans and those wearing Foo Fighters shirts.

The atmosphere the group created was like a dance floor, and nobody stayed still, not even the band members. Bassist Michael Shuman and, of course, vocalist Josh Homme didn't rest for a single moment during their sixteen-song set.

With tracks from their new album Villains (2017), the band proved their success, seeing a large part of the audience singing along to the lyrics and dancing. Josh Homme and company didn't leave out songs from their other albums, such as …Like Clockwork (2013), which was included in the setlist and delighted longtime fans.

“The Way You Used to Do” , “No One Knows”, and “Make It Wit Chu” were the highlights of the night and warmed up the audience for the Foo Fighters' show. When introducing the track “Domesticated Animals”, Josh Homme joked: “At home, everyone tells us what we should and shouldn't do. Is it the same here in Brazil? Do you obey what they say? No! And you know why? Because you're not domesticated animals,” he joked, referencing the song's title.

Finishing with “Go With The Flow” and “A Song For The Dead”, Queens Of The Stone Age left the stage with an incredible energy that captivated every corner of the stadium.

At precisely 8:50 PM, Dave Grohl rushed onto the stage with his guitar, already encouraging the fans to get excited – not that they needed it. With a sequence of hits, the Foo Fighters tested the audience and were surprised to hear a huge chorus in return for every song.

“Everlong”, “Monkey Wrench”, “Learn to Fly” and “The Pretender” marked a strong start for the group, who then presented their new single, “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” from their latest album, Concrete and Gold.

Amid jokes and outpourings of friendliness, Dave gave drummer Taylor Hawkins the opportunity to showcase his musical abilities by performing "Sunday Rain" on both drums and vocals. Greeted with cheers, shouts, and applause, Taylor's performance offered only a preview of what the Foo Fighters had in store for their fans.

Taylor wasn't the only one who had his moment. Guitarist Chris Shiflett also ventured into vocals, performing a cover of Alice Cooper's "Under My Wheels," which seemed to energize the crowd.

After a few more hits like “My Hero”, “These Days” and “Walk”, the frontman encountered a fan holding a sign claiming it was his birthday. Upon going on stage, Lucas introduced himself and revealed he was turning 17, saying his dream is to play Queen's “Under Pressure” with the band. Being considered one of the nicest guys in rock, it was no surprise when Dave accepted the fan's request.

Lucas then went to the drums and started a solo at the vocalist's request, and the audience remained excited, chanting his name. With Dave and Taylor on vocals, Lucas was responsible for the beat and rhythm of the cover, delivering it perfectly and with great enthusiasm.

With spirits at their peak, the fans simply hoped the show wouldn't end soon. When he dedicated the song "Big Me" to São Paulo, cell phone lights flooded Allianz Parque, creating a special and emotional moment for those present. Returning for the encore, Dave performed "Wheels," which led into a cover of AC/DC's "Let There Be Rock," culminating in his big hit, "Best Of You."

Marking their second show in São Paulo, Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, and Rami Jaffee delivered a night full of hits, excitement, and positive energy. They proved why they are considered one of the biggest bands today and a true "arena rock" act.
