Foo Fighters have announced a new album containing their greatest hits.
The compilation of hits is called The Essential Foo Fighters and is the second to be released, following the Greatest Hits from 2009. The release date is scheduled for October 28th.
The album will be available on CD and double vinyl, containing 19 tracks and two bonus songs – “Breakout” and “Waiting On A War” – on the LP. The complete tracklist includes the greatest hits of Foo Fighters' career, including two versions of “Everlong”, as well as “My Hero”, “Best Of You” and more.
Access the pre-sale through the Foo Fighters website.
First release without Taylor Hawkins
Despite being a compilation and not a new album, The Essential will be the first Foo Fighters release since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins , who passed away in the early hours of March 25th.
On September 3rd, the band organized a large festival with over 30 musical acts in tribute to the late drummer and as a fundraising event. The event provided a series of emotional moments, such as Dave Grohl being moved to tears and Taylor's son, Shane Hawkins , playing drums during "My Hero".
The next edition of the festival will take place on September 27th in Los Angeles.
