Global Citizen is bringing artists together for a new virtual event aimed at funding vaccines for poorer countries. The organization was responsible for one of the biggest live events at the start of the quarantine, One World: Together At Home , held in April of last year.
Eddie Vedder and Foo Fighters are the rock representatives at the festival, while Jennifer Lopez, J Balvin , and H.E.R. are the other acts. Selena Gomez will host the event, called The Vax Live: The Concert to Reunite The World .
With support from the World Health Organization and ministers from various countries, all funds raised at the festival aim to assist poorer countries with donations of COVID-19 vaccine doses, targeting "priority groups around the world." The campaign aims to provide enough doses for 27 million frontline healthcare workers.
The broadcast will air on May 8th on ABC, CBS, and the organization's YouTube channel , starting at 9 PM Brasília time, with an extended version.
