Foo Fighters: Who played drums on the new album 'But Here We Are'?

The band's new album did not feature Josh Freese's participation in the studio recording.

Foo Fighters revealed the drummer chosen to replace the late Taylor Hawkins in a global livestream last Sunday, the 21st. Despite Josh Freese for the position, another musician recorded the drums for the band's new album, But Here We Are , which will be released on June 2nd.

According to Kerrang !, the revelation was made during a conversation between the musicians on a live-streamed show. In conversation with Freese, frontman Dave Grohl revealed that he was responsible for recording the drums on the band's new album, something that hadn't happened since the song "Cold Day In The Sun," a track from the album In Your Honor (2005), when Hawkins took over vocals.

During the livestream event, Josh talked to Dave about the drumming on the song "Nothing At All," an unreleased track from the upcoming Foo Fighters album. "When you explained the beat to me, you said, 'I think I played that with one hand,' and I'm kind of doing the same thing. It feels good and the sound is cool, you know?" said the band's new drummer.

“It wasn’t intentional. I did it when I recorded the demo at my house, I had just woken up and was tired. But on my crappy home drum kit, it sounded better. You’re not hitting the hi-hat and the snare at the same time, so there’s kind of more room [to play with one hand],” Grohl explained.

Later this year, the band will be one of the headliners at The Town on September 9th. They will also perform in Curitiba on September 7th, alongside Garbage and Wet Leg.
