Foo Fighters are ready to return to the stage and celebrate 26 years of their career in the United States, with one condition: only for vaccinated people. The safety measure was considered discriminatory by the public.

The band will perform this Tuesday, the 15th, in an intimate show for 610 fans in Los Angeles. On Sunday, the 20th, the band will play at Madison Square Garden, with a full capacity of up to 20,000 people , requiring proof of complete vaccination for both events. The only announced exception to the vaccination requirement is for those under 16 years of age, who need a negative COVID-19 to access the event.

On social media, the announcement caused a negative reaction from some of the public, who considered the measure discriminatory, as reported by Ultimate Guitar . Some internet users accused the band of supporting "suppression, segregation and discrimination" by prohibiting the participation of unvaccinated people. According to Our World In Data , 43% of the US population has already received both doses.

"Can someone explain to me how an unvaccinated person is a conduit for a vaccinated person? It's scary that we now have different rules for people based on their vaccination status," commented one of the band's followers.

On social media, comedian Josh Denny complained. “I’m never buying another Foo Fighters ticket. Not everyone who chooses not to get vaccinated is a denier. Some people very close to me have autoimmune diseases that make the vaccine a high-risk proposition,” he wrote. “'Mandatory vaccination' is the 'whites only' of 2021.”
