The Foo Fighters have just released the music video for their single "Waiting On A War," from the album Medicine At Midnight , which will be released on February 5th.
The music video, directed by Paola Kudacki , depicts the devastation wrought by war. Speaking about the video in a press statement, vocalist Dave Grohl explained: “As a child growing up in the suburbs of Washington DC, I was always afraid of war. I had nightmares about missiles in the sky and soldiers in my backyard, likely fueled by the political tension of the early 1980s and my proximity to the Capitol. My youth was spent under the heavy cloud of a hopeless future.”
Grohl also recounted how the idea for the song came about: “Last year, while I was taking my 11-year-old daughter to school, she turned to me and asked, ‘Dad, is there going to be a war?’ My heart ached in my chest when I looked into her innocent eyes, because I realized she was now living under the same heavy cloud of a hopeless future that I felt 40 years ago. I wrote ‘Waiting On a War’ that day.”
