The Foo Fighters have been one of the most careful bands regarding COVID-19 safety measures, which has resulted in protests from anti-vaxxers who disagreed with the band's requirements for their shows.
Apparently, the protesters weren't the only ones. This Tuesday, the 30th, the band announced that the show scheduled to take place at Huntington Bank Stadium, at the University of Minnesota, was canceled because the venue refused to meet the artists' demands.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and are working to find a suitable venue – one that will prioritize the health and safety of everyone working at and attending the show,” the Foo Fighters wrote in a tweet.
Huntington Bank Stadium requires the use of masks in enclosed spaces such as elevators and restrooms, but does not maintain this requirement for open areas and also does not ask for proof of vaccination or COVID tests. Both masks and proof of vaccination are part of the Foo Fighters' safety protocol.
The University of Minnesota responded to the comments with a statement saying that campus safety policies are aligned with federal and state guidelines, and that over 95% of its community is vaccinated and “consistently experiencing” low infection rates compared to other communities.
