Foo Fighters show in Curitiba last Thursday, the 7th, almost repeated the unusual event of the Metallica baby " : a fan of the band went into labor shortly before the start of the show and was taken to the nearest hospital, from where she listened to the show from afar.
According to UOL , the mother, a Foo Fighters fan, is Renata Pedroso, who was 38 weeks pregnant. Accompanied by her husband, William Pereira dos Santos, she traveled from Ponta Grossa to see the band for the first time and had medical clearance to attend the show, as her due date was the following week.
Wet Leg opening show as usual when Garbage took the stage, Renata began to feel the first contractions and realized she wouldn't be able to wait for the Foo Fighters' performance, scheduled for 9 PM. The couple was quickly attended to by the on-site medical team and taken to Hospital das Clínicas, the closest hospital to the event location.
According to G1 , the birth took place during the show, and little Catarina was born at 00:40, after the performance had already ended. In any case, the parents' favorite band provided the soundtrack to the entire birth process.
“[The baby] was born to the sound of Foo Fighters. I think the music from the first shows ended up triggering labor, and then she was born during the show. The bedroom window is right next to the stadium, so we could hear a lot, we listened to several songs. Of course, it was difficult because at the same time she was in labor, in a lot of pain, but the emotions mixed together, it was very interesting,” said Catarina's father, the baby's name, in an interview with the Banda B .
Interestingly, Renata was attended to at the Couto Pereira Stadium by nurse Juliano Silva, who was responsible for the care of Joyce Figueiró, the mother of the "Metallica baby," during the Metallica concert last year. "Today, the baby, the Metallica baby, is over a year old. He became famous. And now, in this second phase, a huge surprise has appeared; we were extremely surprised when the situation of a possible labor arose," the professional told G1 .
It wasn't the first time the couple had tried unsuccessfully to go to a Foo Fighters concert. In 2022, they both had tickets for the band's show at Lollapalooza Brazil , held in São Paulo, but the performance was canceled after the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins . Even after the second attempt was interrupted by the birth of Catarina, Renata and William didn't give up on fulfilling their dream of seeing a Foo Fighters concert.
“We couldn’t even see the band come on stage. She [the daughter] didn’t want to wait, she couldn’t even wait to see a little bit of the show. I’m still hoping. Eventually it will work out. Let’s see if they come back so we can see this show, maybe we can even take Catarina along,” the child’s father told Globo’s website.
