The Foo Fighters announced today, the 21st, the new drummer who replaces the late Taylor Hawkins . The announcement took place during the Foo Fighters Preparing Music For Concerts , which was streamed live.
Josh Freese has been announced as the new drummer for the Foo Fighters. Freese has played with The Vandals and Devo . Between 1997 and 2000 he was the drummer for Guns N' Roses . He has also played with The Offspring , Nine Inch Nails , Weezer , Paramore , and Sting .
The event began with a 30-minute countdown. With 15 minutes remaining, black and white scenes showed the setup for Dave Grohl .
The event began with the Foo Fighters members chatting and being interrupted by several drummers. First, it was Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers . Then it was Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe asking if anyone had ordered fast food delivery.
Finally, Josh Freese interrupts the conversation, already seated at the drums, saying, “Hey! Let’s play a song or two?” After the first two, which include the new single “Rescued,” the band talks with Josh about using two bass drums in the songs.
The live rehearsal continued with several other songs, including the single “Under You,” released on the 17th, “Sky Is a Neighbourhood,” and the classic “Monkey Wrench,” which featured Grohl and the new drummer combining their playing styles. Josh also talked about his time playing in a teenage band at Disney when he was only 12 years old.
The band also played “Nothing At All,” a song that will be part of the new album. The event is available to view for 3 days at this link here .
The new album But Here We Are
The new album , But Here We Are, will be released on June 2nd. Later this year, the band will be one of the headliners at The Town on September 9th. The band will also perform in Curitiba on September 7th, alongside Garbage and Wet Leg .
“After a year of staggering losses, personal introspection and bittersweet memories, But Here We Are is a brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything the Foo Fighters endured last year. It’s a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family. Courageous, damaged and unwaveringly authentic, the project opens with the single 'Rescued', the first of 10 songs that range from anger and sadness to serenity and acceptance, and a myriad of points in between,” revealed the statement on the group’s website.
