Foo Fighters brought Michael Bublé on stage during their performance at the Outside Lands Music Festival 2023 last weekend.
The unusual collaboration started as a joke. At Foo Fighters' most recent shows, the band has been inviting some audience members to come on stage and sing Michael Bublé's 2009 hit "Haven't Met You Yet." Apparently, however, few people know the complete lyrics, which led the singer to personally appear for a performance.
The surprise appearance happened right after the medley of "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys , "Whip It" by Devo , and "March of the Pigs" by Nine Inch Nails . The camera on the screen showed a sign that read "I love Bublé," and Dave Grohl feigned surprise when he saw that the "fan" who wanted to come on stage was, in reality, Michael Bublé himself.
“I’m going to tell you something, and I’ll be quick because we don’t have much time,” said Dave Grohl. “We’re doing something where people say, ‘I know this song,’ and then they come up here and admit, ‘I know the first verse.’ They don’t!”
Grohl then points to Bublé and continues: “So this incredible son of a bitch – and I’m not even kidding – took a flight from Argentina just to sing this song for you guys. Because there’s no such thing as taking a joke too far.”
