The artists performed O'Connor's second career single, "Mandinka"

Foo Fighters and Alanis Morissette joined together for a tribute to Sinéad O'Connor last Saturday, the 29th.

The performance took place during the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. In the middle of their headlining set, the Foo Fighters called Alanis to the stage to sing "Mandinka," the second single from Sinéad O'Connor's debut album, The Lion And The Cobra (1987).

“We want this night to be special for you because it’s great to be back,” said Dave Grohl before calling Alanis Morissette to the stage. “So tonight we’re going to do something we’ve never done before, with someone we love very much. We want an old friend to come up on stage and sing with us tonight for a very special reason.”

Morissette dedicated the performance to Sinéad, describing her as "a beautiful woman, very intelligent and deeply empathetic, far ahead of her time, who is no longer with us. This is for her."

Sinéad O'Connor was found dead in her apartment last Wednesday, July 26. The cause of death has not yet been revealed.
