In the Wikimetal poll, the Flying V guitar was voted the most Metal, with 31% of the votes. Razorback and Explorer came in second and third place, with 29% and 22% respectively.
Released by Gibson in 1958, the Flying V was first introduced by blues guitarists such as Albert King and Lonnie Mack. By the mid-1960s, the Flying V was being used by big names in rock, such as Jimi Hendrix, and later by heavy rock icons like KK Downing, Rudolf, and Michael Schenker.
