In September 2024, Nightwish released their latest album, Yesterwynde . However, as announced by the band in April 2023 via Instagram , the group will not be touring to promote the album. Live performances will be on indefinite hiatus. The post does not reveal the exact reason for the decision, but makes it clear that it was for the well-being of all members and the future of the band.

In an interview for the December 2024 issue of Metal Hammer , Floor Jansen spoke about the hiatus: “Nightwish does everything at 120%. But if you don’t have the energy for that, then it’s better to take a break. It’s that simple. It would be great to play live, but…”

When asked if the band will return to the stage, the singer replied: “Yes. That’s what we’ve said from the beginning – it’s a break from touring, not a permanent hiatus. Otherwise, we would have said, ‘That’s it, we won’t do any more shows, just albums.’”

Jansen stated that she will use this time to work on her second solo album, the successor to Paragon (2023), for which she began preparing material even before the birth of her second daughter, Lucy, in October 2023.

“Not performing with Nightwish allows me time to write my second solo album. I have ideas, people I want to work with, I even have a song I composed before Lucy was born. Nothing is ready yet, but it will come,” he concluded.
