Apple Original Films has announced the production of a documentary that promises to unveil the behind-the-scenes story of Fleetwood Mac . Featuring the previously unreleased authorized participation of the band members, the film promises to delve into the history, backstage events, and conflicts that contributed to the group's success.
Directed by Frank Marshall , the documentary will feature never-before-seen footage, exclusive interviews, and even archival footage of the late keyboardist and vocalist Christine McVie .
Above all, the director expressed his admiration for the band, highlighting the group's unique ability to transform their chaotic personal lives into a timeless musical narrative.
Regarding his new project, Marshall stated (via Deadline ): “I’m fascinated by how this incredible story of enormous musical achievement came about. Fleetwood Mac somehow managed to fuse their often chaotic and almost operatic personal lives into their own real-time tale, which then became a legend. This will be a film about the music and the people who created it.”
What to expect
First and foremost, the film will focus on the classic Fleetwood Mac lineup, responsible for the album that made the band famous: Rumours (1977). The alchemy between Stevie Nicks , Mick Fleetwood , Christine McVie , Lindsey Buckingham , Peter Green and John McVie , marked by tensions, turbulent romantic relationships, and addictions, generated an explosive creative environment and paved the way for success.
Rumours is considered one of the best-selling albums of all time, winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and remaining at the top of the charts for 31 weeks. The album's songs, which reflect the personal turmoil of its members, have become anthems, connecting deeply with the public.
