Fleetwood Mac may be negotiating a reunion for 2027 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their 1977 Rumours
According to The Sun, sources close to the band revealed that advanced negotiations are underway for a series of projects to mark the 50th anniversary of Rumours , one of the most iconic and successful albums in music history. Organized by drummer Mick Fleetwood , the celebration is expected to include a special reunion stadium show, a version of the album containing unreleased songs and rare material, and a documentary about the album's production – all slated for 2027.
According to the source, the main plan is a special re-release of the album. Warner Records has already confirmed this. “We found some very special songs from the Rumours . We want to celebrate this anniversary in the most respectful way possible—if the band allows it,” declared Aaron Bay-Schuck City of Hope Gala benefit event in Los Angeles.
In addition to the re-release, there is strong interest in producing a definitive documentary about the turbulent period in which Rumours was recorded. The film should explore the personal dramas that almost destroyed the group. “John and Christine were getting divorced and she was dating their lighting technician. Stevie and Lindsey had ended their relationship shortly before she and Mick had a brief affair. And drugs and alcohol were everywhere. The desire is for everyone to sit down and present their version of events on screen,” revealed the source.
Fleetwood Mac may reunite for a show
Rumors about a reunion on stage have also gained traction, although they are still unconfirmed. The group hasn't performed together since 2019 and was devastated by the death of Christine McVie in 2022. Stevie Nicks , who has stated she doesn't feel ready to perform without Christine, is reportedly open to reconciliation with Lindsey Buckingham .
The source added: “Of course, the possibility of a reunion on stage and a concert arises. That’s Mick’s goal. Stevie said she wouldn’t feel right on stage without Christine, but she and Lindsey are also in a healing process right now, which could pave the way for a new show.”
“However, there is a desire to honor Christine in some way, and a live show based on Rumours seems like a very fitting way. The show would fill a stadium dozens of times over because of the affection they inspire. But, unless some significant change occurs, a tour is unlikely at this time,” he concluded.
