The vocalist spoke about what happened
Five Finger Death Punch vocalist Ivan Moody suffered an emotional breakdown on stage during a show in Massachusetts that ended up cutting the band's performance short. After eight songs, during which bassist Chris Kael took over vocals on at least three, Moody told the audience that his mother was passing away.
Moody has a history of excessive alcohol consumption, which became known after an incident in 2015 when the band abandoned him on stage. The musician spent time in a rehabilitation clinic after the incident.
On Friday night, after leaving the stage, the bassist explained: “As you can see, tonight is very sensitive. We came to try and put on a show for you, but sometimes things are heavier than we imagine. So on behalf of the band, all of us, we thank you for coming. We need to go back and be with our frontman.”
After the accident, Ivan Moody's sister, Sandi Greening, spoke publicly, saying that their mother is not dying and that everyone in the family is well: “Our mother is alive and well. I believe, in my personal opinion, that Ivan was drunk and used that as an excuse for his horrible behavior.”
At a show in New Jersey the following day, Moody spoke to the audience about the Massachusetts show: “Last night I had a moment of madness. And it had nothing to do with alcohol or drugs. I just went crazy. The last thing I want is to embarrass my band, my family, or you.”
