Is Fiuk more relevant than Iron Maiden? The 3 finalists of BBB versus 3 big names in rock

Find out what the numbers say about the Top 3 of Big Brother Brazil 21 and 3 major bands

This Tuesday, the 4th, marks the end of the current edition of the country's most successful reality show, Big Brother Brasil . Even though the program itself doesn't have much to do with rock or metal, the 2021 edition sparked a heated debate about a phenomenon characteristic of social media: numbers.

In April, Juliette and one of the greatest bands in history, The Beatles, went viral on Twitter On Instagram , the Fab Four are far behind the lawyer and makeup artist, with 3.5 million followers compared to her 23.6 million.

At the time, several internet users pointed out that the number of people who follow the Beatles on social media is not a measure of the band's success and importance, since their target audience is not on Instagram but on music platforms. On Spotify , for example, the quartet has 24.2 million monthly listeners, surpassing Juliette's numbers on the other social network.

Below are some comparisons of the number of followers between the 3 finalists of BBB (Big Brother Brazil) and certain influential rock and metal bands.

Iron Maiden is a band with almost 50 years of career, formed long before any indication of social media or even Filipe Galvão , better known as Fiuk . The singer and actor, son of one of the most famous names in Brazilian music, Fábio Jr. , was born in 1990, when Iron Maiden was already celebrating its 15th year on the road.

Currently, Fiuk has 4.1 million followers on Instagram, exactly 1 million more than Iron Maiden, with 3.1 million. On Spotify, the story is different. In his solo career, Fiuk has just over 296,000 monthly listeners, while his band, Hori , has 21,619. In this comparison, Iron Maiden leaves the BBB finalist in the dust, reaching a total of 6.2 million monthly listeners.

2. Camilla de Lucas x Queen

In the land of Instagram, whoever has the most followers is king… or, in this case, queen. On the photo-sharing social network, the winner is digital influencer and YouTuber Camilla de Lucas , who even appears wearing a golden crown in her profile picture. The BBB finalist currently has 9.7 million followers on her professional social network, leaving behind the Queen's 4.5 million .

Just as every queen rules her own kingdom, Queen's target audience has built its own empire on the band's main digital platform. The English quartet is the most listened-to rock band on Spotify, with over 37 million monthly listeners, easily beating second place to the alternative pop/rock duo Twenty One Pilots (22.9 million). In third place, the duo is closely followed by AC/DC (21.5 million). Check out the complete ranking of rock, punk, and heavy metal bands with the most monthly listeners (via Stream N' Destroy ).

3. Juliette X Metallica

With 7.4 million followers on Instagram, Metallica holds the title of the most followed hard rock/metal band on the platform, holding a slight advantage over second place, which went to Linkin Park and their 5.6 million followers.

On Spotify, the tables are turned. While Linkin Park is the fourth most listened-to rock band on the platform, totaling 21.1 million monthly listeners, Metallica is further down the list, coming in at 13th with 16.7 million.

On none of the social media platforms, however, can the big names in question surpass BBB finalist Juliette in terms of numbers. On her Instagram profile alone, she has amassed 23.5 million "cacti," as her fanbase is called. Juliette doesn't yet have a musical career, but during her time in Brazil's most watched house, she showcased her singing talent and demonstrated an aptitude for music. Is this the end for the big names in metal?
